I learned the lesson of “Do what you love and the money will follow” in the early 90’s.
I decided I wanted to work with computers, kids and art. I already knew how to use a Macintosh, I’ve always loved being with kids and art is in my blood. It seemed like a no-brainer that I’d go this direction.
God and the Universe agreed. Big time. In 1994, I was awarded a 6 figure contract with Panasonic to create an “electronic kids book” on CD-ROM. Some of you don’t even know what a CD-ROM is. Think iPad app.. CDs were all the rage back then for delivering cool stuff to kids.
Back to my story. The force of my intentions were relentless.
I was immediately swamped with so much work and so much responsibility that my life seemed to take on a life of it’s own for the next 15 years.
Don’t get me wrong – I loved it. It was exciting and wonderful in lots of ways. However, I wasn’t prepared for it all. I’m sure if you’re one my ex-employees, you’ll agree.
Fast forward to today.
I DO want to make a great living while doing what I love.
As it turns out – one of my biggest joys and also one of my greatest strengths is the ability to express myself and help others express themselves with technology.
So, as I rebuild my company, I’m also including in my prayers “grace and ease.”
I’ve discovered that it’s more important for me to have time with my family, time to be creative and paint (with the old fashioned paint brushes), bake, garden, bike, etc, than to make a boat load of money.
For me, life is about relationships and growth. I spend more time growing spiritually and creatively than I do on my business plan.
I know I’ll be wildly successful in all ways – spiritually, emotionally and monetarily.
Why?
Because I know that’s just how I’m wired deep down… to be happy and wildly successful.
Everyone is wired to be happy and joyful at their very core.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! I’ve been accused of living in “Happy Kathy Land” and I’m OK with that.
The faster life gets, the more gadgets we have, the more options we’re faced with every day, the more we need to be quiet, creative and spiritual.
Take time for yourself and allow yourself to slow down and feel good every day. EVERY DAY.
Your life will change so quickly and so positively, you won’t know what hit you!
